Migration Checklist

Pre Migration

  • Mailbox rules
    Mailbox rules may not move over. Make notes of your rules to re-create them post migration.

  • Multifactor authentication
    Confirm that you are registered for Symantec VIP; register
    here if not

  • Sign the email Synchronization Form in Sinai Central

  • For Mac-users
    Update your device if you do not have MacOS High Sierra or higher operating system and enabled FileVault

  • For Windows-users
    Update your device if you do not have Windows 10 Professional or Enterprise operating system and enable Bitlocker

Day-of Migration

  • Migration Timeline
    Your migration will occur between 4-9 AM EST. You can access your email while the migration is occurring.

  • Email Migration Speed
    Migration speed is influenced by your mailbox size.

  • Email Online
    You can access your email and calendar at outlook.office.com easily

  • Reminders

You will see a prompt to restart Outlook once your migration is complete. Restart and let it sync and connect

Macintosh and unmanaged Windows computer users will need to enroll in Microsoft Intune/Company Portal – This process should take 10 minutes to complete.


Mobile devices will need to unenroll from Intelligent Hub “AirWatch”. This process should take “3” minutes to complete. Mobile devices will need to enroll in Intune/Company Portal.

Once you have enrolled in Intune/Company Portal, you will receive an email saying that your device is “Quarantined”.  Please wait up to 60 minutes for mails to sync to your device.


After your mailbox has been migrated, you may not be able to access all shared mailboxes/calendars of colleagues that have not yet been migrated. Typically, their mailboxes are scheduled to be migrated at the same time as yours, however it may not be the same day. If there is an immediate, critical need please reach out to ASCIT.


Log into Outlook using your MSSM email address and password. Ensure that you are able to send and receive mails.
